HISTORY MYSTERY - What general in the American Revolution tried to kill his commander (George Washington)
He was known as a traitor and his name is Benedict Arnold.
Do you know the real story?
To refresh your memory and/or were you even taught this in school?
Our president, then Commander, was traveling to Fort West Point with black Warrant Officer Billy Lee (he was not a slave) and Lieutenant Alexander Hamilton. Benedict Arnold was the commanding officer at Fort West Point.
Three low-ranked soldiers were on a lonely, dark, country road and a spy came along with papers hidden in his sock. He was in collusion with General Benedict Arnold to kill Washington at Fort West Point. Washington, Lee, and Hamilton were on their way to Fort West Point. These three soldiers saved Washington, Hamilton, and Lee's lives. Their names are Private David Williams, Private John Paulding, and Private Isaac Van Wart.
Our country was blessed that lonely night. How lucky we were! Do you really know who George Washington really was? How did he achieve greatness and earn respect from his fellow soldiers and the colonists.
